HOW TOXINS WORK
As we age our skin loses collagen, combine that with today’s environmental stressors or damage caused by free radicals from the sun and you’ve got a recipe for facial lines.
Also when we repeatedly contract our muscles by frowning, squinting, or raising eyebrows it causes the skin to furrow/fold. This also results in the formation of facial lines. The toxins work beneath the surface to temporarily paralyze the muscle activity that causes these lines, such as crow’s feet and forehead lines. It helps them look visibly smoother. Botulinum toxin type A – the active ingredient in our Toxins– it acts on nerve endings in muscles to prevent muscle fibers from contracting.
Are you a candidate for Toxins?
This muscle-relaxing treatment is best used for moderate to severe wrinkles. Including crow’s feet and other “expression lines.” These are the lines that form from squinting, laughing, frowning, smoking and worrying. As these lines deepen over time they make you look older, angry, tired or stressed. A Toxin treatment can help eliminate these resulting in a younger, more youthful looking appearance.
What to expect and how long does it take?
Toxins are a safe, effective treatment that takes less than fifteen minutes to complete. The Toxin is injected into the specific muscle that is contracting and causing wrinkles. The injection simply causes the treated muscles to relax. Resulting in unwrinkled and smooth skin about five to ten days post-treatment. The effects of a single Toxin treatment will last around 3-4 months. No anesthesia is required; however, your provider may use a topical anesthetic or cold pack to reduce any discomfort. If it’s your first time getting a treatment, you may be a little nervous and that’s okay! Localized pain, infection, inflammation, tenderness, swelling, erythema, and/or bleeding/bruising may be associated with the injection. For specific instructions on what to do before and after your treatment, please follow the instructions as given to you by your Provider.
Will My Face Look Overdone or Unnatural?
Toxin injections are a technique-sensitive treatment. You can trust our Provider and their years of experience to deliver subtle results. So you’ll look like yourself, only with less noticeable lines, and who doesn’t want to look refreshed. No one will be able to tell you’ve had anything done. And we won’t tell unless you do. Looking plastic or overdone is a common concern among individuals considering an in-office treatment for moderate to severe frown lines.* Talk to your licensed, trained, healthcare professional. There are steps you can take to make you feel more comfortable. First, have a detailed discussion with your provider. You want to talk through every concern you have, until you feel comfortable. Your provider, who is experienced in facial anatomy, can determine the right options for you. For example, the most widely used procedure for moderate to severe frown lines is neurotoxin injections, a class of prescription medication that has been shown to be effective in many studies. Individual results may vary.
How Many Injections Will I Receive?
Treatment with our Toxins is customized for each individual client’s needs. When you come in for a consultation or treatment our Providers will determine the appropriate treatment for your areas of concern.
