Botox: Contraindications/Pre/Post

Contraindications

  •     Pregnancy / Breastfeeding
  •     Dermatoses in the treatment area (ex. Eczema, psoriasis.)
  •     Gross motor weakness in the treatment area
  •     Immunocompromised
  •     Infection in the treatment area
  •     Keloid scarring
  •     Neuromuscular disorder
  •     Sensitivities or allergies to the product

Pre-Treatment

  •     Stop anti-inflammatories, aspirin and herbal supplements 5 days before to reduce the risk of bruising

Post-Treatment

  •     Swelling will go down in approx. 10-15 minutes
  •     Avoid aggressive impact activity for 24 hours
  •     Do not rub or scrub the area night of treatment
  •     May apply ice and anti-inflammatories for soreness
  •     May apply arnica for bruising
  •     Botox will take 7-10 days to take effect
  •     Botox will last 90 days on average
  •     No touch ups will be performed for minimum of 14 days

 

Filler: Contraindications/Pre/Post

Contraindications

  •     Pregnancy / Breastfeeding
  •     No active fever blisters
  •     Any active infection

Pre-Treatment

  •     Avoid dental cleanings 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after filler appointment
  •     Avoid flu shot 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks after appointment
  •     May apply arnica topically 2 times a day to treatment area to reduce risk of bruising
  •     Stop any anti-inflammatories, aspirin, and herbal substances 7 days before

Post-Treatment

  •     Apply arnica to treatment area 3 times a day
  •     Do not manipulate the skin of the treatment area
  •     May use ice and resume anti-inflammatories for soreness
  •     Notify our office if any changes to the skin including; blanching, ulceration, or excessive swelling
  •     Expect swelling for 2-3 days post procedure
  •     No lipstick for 12 hours
  •     Filler is hydrophilic so drink lots of water

 

Laser Hair Removal: Contraindications/Pre/Post

Contraindications

  •       Pregnancy/Nursing 
  •       Pacemaker
  •       Metal implants
  •       Sunburn/Tanned skin
  •       Body jewelry – must be removed for treatment
  •       Open wounds
  •       Active infection

Pre-Treatment

  •       No plucking, waxing or bleaching for minimum of 2 weeks prior to first treatment
  •       Please remove makeup, lotion or deodorant to treatment area 
  •       Please shave treatment area 24 hours prior to appointment
  •       Please avoid direct sun exposure and tanning 4 weeks prior to your appointment
  •       Please notify our office if taking any medications that may make your skin photosensitive
  •       Any patients who have been tested for epidermal reaction with a test treatment, may return in 72 hours for treatment

Post-treatment

  •       Avoid shaving for 24 hours post treatment
  •       May apply Vit E or aloe vera for a soothing effect
  •       Apply 50 SPF to treatment area post laser or avoid direct sun exposure for minimum 2 weeks
  •       For maximum desired results, multiple treatments will be required at regular scheduled intervals
  •       Avoid strenuous workouts, hot tubs or spas for 24 hours post treatment
  •       If blistering appears, apply bacitracin to treatment area (available at any drug store)
  •       May apply cold packs to ease any temporary discomfort
  •       Wait to apply make up, deodorant and lotions for 24 hours as long the skin is not broken
  •       If any rash should occur, may take Benadryl or apply Benadryl cream to subside itching symptoms
  •       Hair may take up to 4 weeks or as little as a few days to fall out post treatment
  •       Follow up treatments should be scheduled within a 4-8 week time period determined by your provider

 

Fractora: Contraindications/Pre/Post

Contraindications

  •     Pregnant/ Breastfeeding
  •     Pacemaker or neurostimulation device
  •     Sunburn

Pre-Treatment

  •     Hydrate – moisturize skin in the morning and in the evening. Drink at least 8 glasses of water per day to completely hydrate your skin and optimize your treatment results.
  •     Medications – you may be provided a prescription for anti-viral medication prophylaxis 3-4 days prior to the procedure if you are undergoing a deeper peel or have a history of herpes simplex to avoid an outbreak.
  •     Topical retinoid should be discontinued 3-4 days prior to treatment.
  •     Avoid any prolonged direct exposure to the sun. Avoid self-tanner and spray tanning for 7-10 days prior to treatment.
  •     Avoid taking anticoagulation for 10 days before treatment, if medical condition allows. 
  •     Arrive for treatment with clean skin or numbing cream if directed. There should be no lotion, make-up, perfume, powder, bath/shower oils present on the skin. 

Post-Treatment

  •     Most patients will experience a clinical endpoint of erythema (redness) for 1-3 days. Slight to moderate edema (swelling) and a moderate sunburn sensation may last longer. Skin may crust and peel 2-7 days depending on treatment settings.
  •     No bandages or wraps necessary.
  •     Use water ONLY for the first 24 hours. Then you may resume your normal skincare routine.
  •     Avoid sun exposure to reduce the chance of hyperpigmentation. The use of SPF 50+ after 48 hours.
  •     Multiple treatments over a period of several months may be required to achieve desired response.

 

Laser Spider Vein: Contraindications/Pre/Post

Contraindications

  • Pregnancy/Nursing 
  •       Pacemaker
  •       Metal implants
  •       Sunburn/Tanned skin
  •       Body jewelry – must be removed for treatment
  •       Open wounds
  •       Active infection
  •       You may not be a candidate if varicosities are present

Pre-treatment

  •       Please remove makeup, lotion or deodorant to treatment area 
  •       Please shave treatment area on the day of appointment
  •       Please avoid direct sun exposure and tanning 4 weeks prior to your appointment
  •       Please notify our office if taking any medications that may make your skin photosensitive

Post-treatment

  •       You may not be a candidate if varicosities are present

Pre-treatment

  •       Please notify our office if taking any medications that may make your skin photosensitive

Post-treatment

  •       Avoid picking any scabbing that may develop post treatment
  •       Allow any sloughing of skin to occur naturally
  •       Apply 50 SPF to treatment area post laser or avoid direct sun exposure for minimum 2 weeks
  •       For maximum desired results, multiple treatments may be required at regular scheduled intervals
  •       Avoid strenuous workouts, hot tubs or spas for 24 hours post treatment

Votiva (Forma V/Fractora V): Contraindications/Pre/Post

Contraindications

  •     Abnormal Pap smear in the last 12 months
  •     Previous history of cervical cancer
  •     Previous bladder sling surgery
  •     Any metal implants from previous surgery
  •     Pacemaker
  •     Pregnant or nursing
  •     Currently menstruating
  •     Active herpes lesion

Pre-treatment

  •     Please shave the vaginal area 24 hours before your appointment if having external treatment
  •     Avoid applying any lotions or creams to vaginal area
  •     Let your provider know if you require Valtrex as pre-treatment
  •     Apply numbing cream to external vaginal area one hour before appointment time if having Fractora V

Post-treatment

  •     Avoid strenuous exercise for 24-48 hours if Fractora V performed
  •     Avoid intercourse or mechanical devices for 48 hours 
  •     May resume normal gym activities immediately (Forma V)

P2 & P3 Chemical Peel: Contraindications/Pre/Post

Contraindications:

  •     Pregnant or possibility of being pregnant
  •     Nursing 
  •     Active cold sores, Herpes Type I or II, or warts in treatment area
  •     Wounded, sunburned, excessively sensitive skin
  •     History of allergy or sensitivity to any ingredients in the prep, peel, or boost solutions
  •     Allergy to aspirin or salicylates 
  •     Allergy to idebenone
  •     Vitiligo
  •     History of autoimmune diseases including psoriasis, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, dermatomyositis, multiple sclerosis, or any medical issues that weaken the immune system
  •     History of any diseases of immune deficiency 
  •     Inflammatory dermatitis conditions including rosacea, seborrheic dermatitis, systemic lupus erythematosus, or dermatomyositis 
  •     Hyperpigmentation related to prior use of hydroquinone containing products

Pre-Treatment

  •     Avoid neurotoxin treatments (Botox, Xoemin, etc.) 48 HOURS BEFORE
  •     Avoid laser hair removal, waxing, depilatory creams, skin products prepared in 100 percent ethyl alcohol base, exfoliating products (dermaplane, microdermabrasion, etc.), retinoids (Retin-A or Renova), ONE WEEK BEFORE
  •     Avoid chemical peels, microneedling, non-ablative resurfacing treatments, some ablative/invasive treatments such as facial lasers, ONE MONTH BEFORE
  •     Avoid facial surgery SIX MONTHS BEFORE
  •     Avoid Accutane use and chemotherapy or radiation therapy ONE YEAR BEFORE

Post-Treatment

  •     Avoid direct sun exposure
  •     Post care instructions will be given by your provider specifically fit for you and your skin type
